Music Council Programs

The Fine Arts Festival (FAF) is Hillsborough County Public Schools Elementary All County Music Concert and Art Exhibition. The concert features three regional choirs, mallet percussion, world drumming, handbells, and festival orchestra made up of students in fourth and fifth grade. 

On The Upbeat! is HCEMEC's official publication to share all of the positive and uplifting things going on in the elementary music rooms across the county! Published two to four times each year, On The Upbeat! has continued to share the good news in Hillsborough Counties Music since 2009.

Taking action to ensure that music education continues to be a vital part of every child's education. We support positive views of Music Education and encourage active participation in local, state & national legislative issues related to arts education.

Young Songwriters Symposium invites fifth grade students from elementary schools across Hillsborough County to meet with their peers, learn song craft, and compose their own songs. Students will perform these original songs with a live band on stage and record their compositions in a professional recording studio.

The HCEMEC provides Professional Development several times each year for members to enrich their teaching practice, as well as positively impact the students' musical education.

The HCEMEC coordinates and oversees PLC meetings across the district providing an opportunity for music specialists to share and collaborate with other professionals. While some music specialists have a co-teacher, many teachers work alone and are the only music teacher at their school, therefore the PLCs provide a great opportunity for music specialists to truly have a community with which to confer and improve their teaching practice. 

The Musical Heritage Committee organizes and plans community and district events that showcase and promote a wide range of musical cultures.
